MMC FAQ.

What can I do before MMC starts on February 1st?

If it gives you an advantage that is intentionally trying to move outside the spirit of the competition then it is not a good idea.

Thinking of ideas and forming a team is fine beforehand.

Everything else. NO WORK PRIOR IS PERMITTED: including but not exclusive to acquiring assets, building assets, planning, writing, and coding.

Let's dive into this further

Forming a team makes sense so you are prepared for the competition and ready on day one. However, once it goes beyond that, it starts becoming something more. Of course someone could say for an idea "Let's make a RPG-style game". But that is as far as the planning should go.

Spirit of the Competition

The spirit is to start on Feb 1st. Going in only with an idea and a team...ideally with no idea also if you want to do it in the most pure form. No prep work beyond. Everyone is excited about MMC but remember the contest is about what can be done in one month's time--not to see what can be done in a 1.5 months or so.

More flowerly way of looking at it:
Approach the rules with the idea of the spirit of the competition. The spirit of the competition means:

Imagine you are dropped into a game jam island from a helicopter with nothing your knowledge and skills. Then GO. It's a great way to test your ability under pressure and share in a special creator event with everyone.
